Empty Classroom Week October 2015Brook Green held an Empty Classroom week from Monday 5th October through to Friday the 9th October. Teachers were encouraged to plan and deliver at least one lesson per day outside the classroom. The aim was to showcase the possibilities on learning that exist in a natural environment and to have a bit of fun.
On the Tuesday there was a whole day devoted to outdoor learning and the school spent the whole day either in the woods on in the school grounds improving our allotments. A special thanks must go to Mrs Wenmoth and Mr Bates for organising and corralling so many willing helpers to transform what was sad allotment into a state of the art mini arable farm.
Bex House from Earthjump must also get a mention for delivering sensory woodland lessons. All the teachers really embraced the week and there was some innovative learning going on outside. The students thoroughly enjoyed it and many said they would like to have more lessons outside the classroom in future.
