Remembrance Day 2015
The theme of our Remembrance Day 2015 was personal experience of war. Year 7 students went to Saltash Heritage Museum and they investigated what life was like for a soldier living and fighting in WW1 trench. Year 8 had a guest speaker. Mrs Diana Lawer, the club secretary of the Plymouth postcard society and keen local historian talked about her family's role in WW1.
Year 9 and year 10 had a guest speaker. Mike Allen retired Gurkha Colonel talked about his experience during WW2 fighting with the Gurkhas.Year 11 went to the University of St Mark and St John to investigate the role Marjons students played in WW1. The university archivist, Gillian Fewings told our students about two former students who fought together in the 1915 Gallipoli. Mr Peart, one of our governors helped our craft and chat Friday morning group making poppies. The whole school met together for afternoon tea, a perfect way to end a busy and reflective day.
