Brook Green Literacy Intervention Day: Higher Level ReadingOn Thursday 21st April, 8 students from years 10, 9 and 8 spent the day with myself (Miss Boothman) and Mrs Moore. The students were picked from these year groups in order to work on their higher level reading skills. Both Mrs Moore and myself agreed that the work they produced on the day and their attitudes were exemplary.
The students tackled higher level texts (from the new GCSE course) as well as extracts from a novel called The Snow Spider. They worked on their skimming and scanning skills, finding 'surface' information, inference and deduction through images and words and worked up to creating a full essay from the new GCSE paper! Students really 'rose' to the challenge of day and Zach, Nadina, Sophie and Craig really demonstrated that they are a credit to themselves and the school.
