Bat Boxes at Brook Green

On Thursday 26th June 2016 Coral Smith came along with Steph to make some Bat Boxes to put on the school grounds and also in Woodland Woods. Coral, who is a Marine Education Officer based in Wembury, has a keen interest in all things bat.  She gave an interesting talk on bats reminding Year 10 Vocational Students that over 18 species of bats live in Devon and we need to make sure we look after them. Later we took the flat pack boxes into the woods to assemble. We then went back into the Tech Room to finish them off. It was a very generous offer to not only donate the boxes but let us put them together. She also gave the school a bat Detector and offered to come back later in the year and run a twilight session to see if we do have bats in our belfry.
