Refugee Workshop 2016
On Tuesday 24th May, students from Brook Green Centre for Learning took part in an art project, which was delivered by Imogen Woods, from the Red Cross. The project’s focus was learning about refugees and how some people may become separated from their families due to conflict, disaster or migration. The morning was spent learning about refugees; talking, taking part in activities and watching films. The afternoon was spent creating art.
Dave Evans, from Devon and Cornwall fire services and Graeme Kirkup from the police service contributed to the workshop by talking about the importance of respecting diversity. Artist, Karen Evans led the art workshop, supported by students from Plymouth university. Our students produced 2 brilliant paintings, in response to the project, which will be exhibited as follows:
Devonport Library, Chapel Street, Plymouth, PL1 4DP – 12pm Monday 20th June until 4pm Friday 24th June 2016. The library is closed on Thursday 23rd June.
Plymouth University, Portland Square Building, PL4 8AA – 12pm until 6:30pm Saturday 25th June.
