the country people have been celebrating National Poetry Day and that was no
different at Brook Green! Students spent
time before Thursday preparing for the special day. They wrote poems in their English lessons
based on a wide variety of topics from losing a friend, what it is like to be a
carer in the family, what friendship means to them and poems based on pets or
sports. The poems came in all different
forms from shape poems, acrostic poems to the favourite form of free
verse. Students are also able to enter
the 'Poetry Competition' where they are able to submit multiple entries. The closing date is Friday 14th October 2016
and there will be a range of prizes including a KS3 winner, a KS4 winner and shortlist prizes. Staff are also able to enter the Staff
Competition (where there will be one prize).
Some of the students'
amazing poetry will appear on the website when the winners have been announced!
