PGL Ardeche 2017
During the month of May we were lucky enough to have the pleasure of a trip to the Ardeche in the South of France.
My self and 2 year 10 students accompanied 5 other Special Education schools, a total of 42 young people, on a great trip involving all sorts of fantastic activities.
After a very long trip we arrived on Sunday the 21st May and settled in to our chalets.
On Monday and Tuesday we canoed down the Ardeche River navigating a variety of rapids and other obstacles. It was amazing and all the guys did themselves proud with their skill and determination.
Wednesday was all about raft building and teamwork with the guys building a solid raft and paddling off down the river Ceze, another stunning river situated right next to the PGL camp. The afternoon saw us cycling through Cherry orchards and acres of vineyards taking in the local scenery.
Thursday was High Ropes and Trapeeze in the morning followed by a lovely trip up the river Ceze on Kayaks. On Friday we had the pleasure of visiting the famous walled city of Avignon were we all got to experience the local culture and spectacular scenery.
Our final day of activities saw wading across the river Ceze and trekking to a stunning little village and on to the Cascades, an area where the river tumbles down steep gorges forming beautiful pools and fun places to swim. Another cracking day.
All in all a fantastic trip thoroughly enjoyed by both students and adults alike. Well done to everyone.
