Dental Fun Day at Brook Green

Going to the dentist can be a scary experience for adults and children.  At Brook Green we were very lucky that Mrs Holt arranged for dental students from Plymouth University (who are all in their second year and already work with students at Brook Green) to do a 'Dental Fun Day' where students were able to overcome the fear of the dentist by doing a variety of activities to overcome sensory fears and issues.  As you can see from the photographs, students took part in various workshop activities including toothpaste tasting, using disclosing tablets, mask design, dressing up in the masks, gowns and gloves and then sitting in the dentists chair.  Students from Plymouth University were brilliant with the students and we would like to say a massive thank you to them!

The Brook Green Disco 2018

It's beginning to look a lot like...'the Brook Green Christmas Disco'!

Students and staff had a dance-tastic time at the Christmas Disco.  Simon 'Mr Disco' Dean was our 'resident DJ' for the evening and brought along his own disco equipment that included fantastic lights, booming speakers and an amazing selection of music.  Students danced the night away with sounds and dances including 'The Floss', 'Baby Shark' and 'Superman'.

Mrs Holt and her helper Mrs Jordan staffed the squash and crisp bar whilst Miss Eastel gave a separate E-Safety talk to parents and carers downstairs.

A massive thank you to Miss Wesemann for organising the evening for everyone!

Christmas Table Decoration - 8SB

8SB have been extremely busy and creative with their Christmas table decoration today.  We used plasticine to create the base and Fimo for all of the figures, snowmen, reindeer and the trees.  A gingerbread house was made out of foam core board, coffee stirrers and acrylic paint, the fences were made from coffee stirrers and signs are made with Shrinkles!  We all worked together and all of the students contributed towards our wonderful festive scene.
