Garden Party at Buckingham Palace

Updated: May 19

On Monday May 15th the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award hosted their Gold Award celebration events in Buckingham Palace Gardens where Gold Award holders from across the UK were celebrating their outstanding achievements. As a recently Directly Licensed Centre, Brook Green were very excited to be invited to this unique event and experience the Buckingham Palace Gardens. Mr Tolcher - DoE Manager and Mrs Holt - Deputy Head had the honour of representing Brook Green Centre for Learning. We were invited for the work that Brook Green does with the Duke of Edinburgh Award for enabling so many of our students in Years 9 and 10 to achieve their Bronze and Silver awards through expeditions and volunteering.

Being at the Palace was an amazing experience and we were able to hear the Duke of Edinburgh speak, as well as many other inspirational people, such as Jordan Wyllie, MBE, who set up a school in Africa and is the patron of Army Cadets.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme encourages students to be resilient and to achieve things they never thought possible and we are very proud to be a part of this!
