Johnny Mercer visits Brook Green

Updated: Jun 14

Today the Member of Parliament (MP) for Moor View the right Honourable Johnny Mercer came to visit Brook Green. He was here to meet a group of Year 9 students who had been learning about local and national politics. The students asked him a range of questions and he gave some great answers. We learnt a lot about our local MP. From what was his proudest achievement in politics so far; helping move forward the redevelopment of Derriford. He also said what his low points were and he mentioned the trees! Johnny spoke about his military service and how that shaped his desire to enter politics. As the Veterans' Minister he wants to ensure that everyone who serves is treated fairly and is looked after by the country. He let slip that he was a musical child and as a chorister sang in front of the Queen. He was very warm and friendly with the group and put everyone at their ease. The students and staff very much appreciated his visit and taking the time to meet us all.
