The theme of the day was, spiritual strength. We focused on how religious figures, and believers deal with adversity. We looked at inspiration quotes, connected to adversity, from Mahatma Gandhi, the Dalai Lama, Gautama Buddha and a selection of Christians. We then discussed resilience and the qualities a resilient person might have.

Using a selection of reflective and shiny materials, the students created a collages expressing how difficulties can make us more resilient and stronger. The artistic inspiration was from Japanese kintsukuroi, which is the art of repairing broken ceramic pots with gold to make them stronger and more beautiful. We also sought inspiration from the artist Andrew Logan, a contemporary artist who uses shiny, colourful and reflective materials to create his work.
