This year, Brook Green School celebrated World Book Day with a wonderful and thought‑provoking theme: the life of a carrier bag and the impact of plastics on our planet. What unfolded was a day filled with creativity, curiosity, and powerful messages about caring for our environment.

Exploring the Journey of a Carrier Bag

Throughout the day, students explored how something as simple as a plastic bag has a much bigger story. From where it comes from, to how it’s used, and—most importantly—what happens when it ends up in our oceans or on our streets. The theme helped everyone think about recycling, reusing, and protecting our world for the future.

Amazing Creations and Activities

The classrooms and corridors were alive with colour and imagination as students took part in hands‑on activities inspired by plastics and environmental care. Some of the highlights included:

Weaving and Flower Arrangements

Students created beautiful flower‑inspired crafts, weaving materials together to show how everyday objects can be repurposed into something new and meaningful.

Superhero Catwalk

Our very own eco‑superheroes took to the runway! Students designed exciting costumes made from reused plastics, proving that saving the planet is stylish too. The catwalk was a joyful celebration full of confidence, fun, and creativity.

Save Our Seas

Classes explored the impact of plastic pollution on marine life through artwork, displays, and storytelling. From ocean‑themed crafts to group discussions, the message was clear: our actions matter.

A Truly Amazing Day

World Book Day at Brook Green School was more than just dressing up—it was a day that combined storytelling, creativity, and environmental awareness. Students and staff worked together to bring the theme to life, and the sense of teamwork and imagination could be felt everywhere.

The day was inspiring, meaningful, and full of smiles. A huge well done to everyone involved for making it such a memorable celebration!
