A catering star joins City College Junior Chefs Academy

Mason Bittle, our youngest student in year 9 at Brook Green has started studying at City College Plymouth.

That would be a great headline and it is nearly true. In truth Mason has chosen to do extra learning, yes he has chosen to go and learn in his own free time and he has got his mum to pay for it as well!

We are mightily proud of Mason as he has signed up and was chosen to be on the Junior Chefs Academy course at City College Plymouth that is on a Tuesday evening for 2 ½ hours.

Mason is developing his cooking skills and will have the opportunity to work with the professional chef lecturers in the state-of-the-art training kitchens there.

The course lasts for nine weeks and gives a real flavour of working with food to create interesting and mouth-watering dishes that you can take home and then prepare for friends and family. On the final session, you will be cooking for invited family and guests at our own Graduation Ceremony.

There are other opportunities for 14 to 16 year olds at City College Plymouth in other Junior Academies, such as Bar and Barista, Construction and as Mason is doing Catering.

If you think your son to daughter would like similar opportunities as Mason please contact Mr Dean at Brook Green by phone or email sdean@bgcfl.org.uk and he will share the information with you.
