Our Year 8 students recently enjoyed an exciting and educational visit to War Horse Valley Farm as part of their English studies of War Horse by Michael Morpurgo.

The trip provided a fantastic opportunity for students to bring their classroom learning to life by experiencing a working farm environment similar to the setting of the novel. During the visit, students had the chance to feed a variety of animals and learn more about their care and importance on a farm.

One of the highlights of the day was a tractor ride around the farm, where students were able to see first-hand how the farm operates. They watched working dogs expertly round up sheep, demonstrating the strong partnership between farmers and their animals. This gave students a greater understanding of the rural life and farming practices that form an important backdrop to War Horse.

The visit was both enjoyable and informative, helping students develop a deeper appreciation of the novel's themes, characters, and setting. It was a memorable experience that brought literature to life and supported their learning in a meaningful and engaging way.

We would like to thank the staff at War Horse Valley Farm for making the day so welcoming and educational for our students.
