Experiences of the Workplace - Merafield View Nursing Home
Today we took a small group of students to Merafield View to look at the types of jobs needed to run a care home. Merafield View is a nursing home for up to 40 residents and has 75 members of staff to keep the place running smoothly. The team are led by Sally who recently won a YMCA Lifetime Achievement Award for her service to the home. Fire and Rescue Service Careers Talk
Did you know...? A fire engine can contain 1800 litres of water? Today the Year 11 Life and Employability Skills class met Caroline Anderson from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service to talk about various careers within the fire and rescue service as well as the training needed to cover all aspect of fire and rescue. Wednesday 10 th December 2025 year 11 Life and Employability Students are planning a Christmas Disco for all students and we are hoping to run a parent craft session for those parents that wish to stay on site. Next Step Careers Fair - Tuesday 9th December 2025
Save the date for our Next Steps Careers Fair. We are delighted to be holding the event again and have lots of colleges, independent training providers and employers attending including City College Plymouth, Lifeworks, Building Plymouth and Community Homes. Escape from Brook Green... well sort of!
Today we welcomed DC Tamsyn May and Craig Lang from the Cyber Choices team at Devon and Cornwall Police to talk about cyber security and computer misuse. Students were tasked with completing an escape room mission to crack into DCI Nicola Crooks' laptop and solve the clues as to who had hacked her emails.
